My Pink Stamper's First Blog Hop Challenge

I had a great time last night checking out the My Pink Stamper Design Team's first blog hop. I collected all of the words from each of the blogs to find out what the challenge would be. The phrase was "Do you want to join in the challenge? Make a card, scrapbook page, or something fun with my pink stamper stamps or the color pink." I decided to use the challenge as inspiration to make a card for my friend's birthday next month. She loves hedgehogs so I'm pretty sure she'll like this.

Here's what I used:

hedgehog cut using the Create-A-Critter cartridge
sentiment cut using Birthday Bash cartridge
pink, brown, black, tan and white cardstock
Provo Craft patterned paper in azure blue
EK Success border punch
Cotton Candy Stickles

You can check out the rest of the challenge participants' work here:

I'm looking forward to participating in some more challenges soon!

My trip to Michael's...and a card

I went to Michael's this weekend to take advantage of the amazing sale on Cricut cartridges. I was able to really build my cartridge collection. I picked up
Mickey and Friends
Lyrical Letters
From my Kitchen
Wild Card
Stretch Your Imagination
Winter Woodland
Pooh Font
A Child's Year

and...a Gypsy!! I didn't really think I wanted one, but the price ($49) was too good to pass up, especially given the current deal of 5 free downloadable cartridges.

Sadly, my Gypsy does not work at all and needs to take a trip back to Provo. I couldn't wait to get it out of the box (by the way, why is the box so darn hard to open?) and I followed the only set of directions in the package and tried to turn on my Gypsy and....nothing. The blue light came on to indicate that it was turned on, but the screen remained totally black. I followed every set of troubleshooting suggestions I could find on-line with no luck. So sad that my new toy does not work!

So, while I had fully hoped to be posting my first Gypsy project today, I am posting an old card that I made a while back instead. For this card I used:
Doodlebug patterned paper
Create-a-Critter for the giraffe and the sentiment
Cuttlebug Traffic Jam Embossing Folder
ribbon from Michael's
pop dots

I made this card to fit inside a business sized envelope.

Owl Notebook

The week before Christmas, my daughter came to me and told me that she and her friends were doing a Secret Santa and she needed a gift in 2 days for one of her friends at school. Of course, I had just been shopping that day and I could have easily bought something, had I known that a gift was needed. My daughter told me that I didn't need to worry, because she had bought a few things at the school store that she knew her friend would like, including a composition notebook. "I figured you could decorate it with some Cricut stuff, Mom." So off I went to the scraproom to do some last-minute gift making. As it turns out, her friend Kristen loved her owl notebook. I thought I'd post it here, because I think it's pretty cute, too.

I used some old patterned paper for the background. I'm not sure of the manufacturer. The owl was cut using Create-A-Critter and the letters were made using the Mickey Font cartridge.

My Pink Stamper 2011 Design Team Challenge

One of my resolutions for 2011 is to work on adding some content to this blog. I was excited to see that Robyn at is looking for a few new members for her design team. The challenge that she posted was just the thing to get me excited about posting some of the things I have been working on.

For this challenge, I needed to use Robyn's favorite colors (green, brown and pink) and another color, to make a project using my favorite cartridge. I chose to use Birthday Bash, which I just got as a Christmas gift. I also used Design Studio for the first time! It would be so exciting to be chosen as a member of Robyn's design team. Her videos were the reason I purchased my Cricut in the first place!

Here's the recipe for this 5.5 inch round card:

cardstock (brown, green, light and dark pink)
Uni-ball Signo white pen
Offray dark pink gingham ribbon
pop dot
clear adhesive dot

Birthday Bash Cartridge
p.31 snail
p.38 scalloped card base
p.67 "It's Your Day" sentiment
